The new NEC DS 80683 Digital Cordless Telephone includes four programmable function keys for line appearances, Call Coverage Keys, etc. as well as a 2 line, 16 character LCD display. To maintain long life, these products use a rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride battery pack.

The 80683 is a 3-piece system. You'll get a base that plugs into an electrical outlet and a phone jack, plus a portable handset, and a charger stand for the handset. The charger stand can go almost anywhere, because it needs just electrical power, but no phone jack. You can put it in a room or a building with no phone wiring!
